This week, the Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) Committee’s rapporteurs responsible for the CAP reform after 2020 have to submit, by 19 October, a number of amendments to the European Commission’s proposals. These will be a first step in shaping the European Parliament’s position on the CAP reform proposal.
Therefore, Mr. Éric Andrieu (S & D) will deal with the common market, on which I am a shadow rapporteur, Mrs. Esther Herranz García (PPE) will deal with the CAP Strategic Plans, and Mrs. Ulrike Müller (ALDE) is responsible for the financing and management of the CAP section .
Most likely, the reports will be open for amendments at the end of November 2018. It is also expected that the votes on these reports will be held in March 2019 at the second plenary session of the year. Until then, the political group coordinators of COMAGRI are due to discuss at the extraordinary meeting of next week on the 22nd of October 2018 about the next steps regarding the CAP. There are concerns regarding whether the Parliament should not delay the work and make the report subject to vote at the plenary session in March and not in April 2019 when all MEPs will be in full election campaign.
